KewlMetal built this custom bagger for Randy Berkley of Fontana, CA. Randy bought his 2007 Road King and knew he wanted to make it stand out. Being a good friend of KewlMetal’s Big Joe for over 30 years, he knew Big Joe and Matt from KewlMetal were the ones to do it. At the same time, KewlMetal was looking for a Harley to build to take to the 2011 V-Twin Expo in Cincinnatti. Big Joe picked up Randy’s bike and brought it to KewlMetal Inc in Prescott, AZ. The build began.
The first thing KewlMetal had to decide was what size wheel they were going to put on this Road King. They decided to go with a 26″ Front Wheel, paired with KewlMetal’s 45 Degree Bolt On Pro Street Kit. This was something that had never been done before, and KewlMetal knew it was the way to go. Now that they knew what size wheel to use, they had to decide what wheel design they were going to go with. A bike this special needed something incredible. The KewlMetal Kamillion wheel was the perfect choice. The interchangeable artwork in the Kamillion wheel screams CUSTOM. KewlMetal’s R&D Department, headed up by Matt Mrdeza (Co-Owner of KewlMetal Inc) got to work on designing custom parts for this build. Matt’s years of experience as an aeronautical engineer as well as his passion for custom motorcycle building guaranteed that the bike was in good hands.
KewlMetal’s custom Air Intake Cover, cut with a skull to match the wheel, was added to the bike along with matching engine covers and floorboards to keep with the theme of the bike. Big Joe then enlisted the help of his good friends Joel and Willem at Dead Center Cycles. They all worked together to come up with the perfect fairing and saddlebags for this build. The Dead Center Smoothies not only looked amazing, but the fitment and quality were unsurpassed. The bags and fairing required no bondo or filling…they fit like a glove! Big Joe had a very specific vision for the rear fender on this Road King. He called Nick at Milwaukee Bagger and they got to work. Joe knew he wanted a slick fender with built in tail lights, and as always, Milwaukee Bagger delivered. The fitment was flawless and the service received from Milwaukee Bagger was as quick and courteous as usual. Randy at BCool Products in Canada provided the front fender, which really polished off the look. The Road King is virtually stock when it comes to the engine and performance, but one thing KewlMetal insisted on was a set of RPW exhaust. The pipes enhanced the sound of the bike and the seat of the pants performance was very noticeable. All that was left was paint. Brackman’s Auto Body in Prescott, AZ was the first and only choice for KewlMetal, as they have done all of the KewlMetal builds and their quality is impecable. The tribal sickle design and deep blue paint made naming this beast relatively easy…Insidious Moon.
Randy loves his new bagger and it is a dream to ride. The performance and handling are awesome! The combination of the 45 Degree rake kit and the 26″ front wheel makes the front end lighter than stock, making the ride smooth at both low and high speeds.
This bagger has made appearances at the V-Twin Expo, The Lauglin River Run and Las Vegas BikeFest as well as many local rallies, and it is a show-stopper every time. People cannot get enough of Insidious Moon.
